Friendships, a review of Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in 05 Fresh Pink is coming your way!
I like blush. I am a pale kind of person, you know, like it is August and despite much outdoor activity I still seem to be… well about the shade of a beluga whale. (Ok maybe I exaggerate….a little.) So a little bit of color is my friend. And as I constantly change my hair color, this means changing up the makeup color palette as well. Generally when I am a blonde I like more peachy blushes lips etc. And as a brunette, pinks! As a (current) brunette I thought it would be fun to give the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in 05 Fresh Pink a try.
I have always used powder blushes (just because, I really have no reason why, it’s not like I swear by them or anything.) And you know what? This gel blush? I like it! I actually really like it a lot! I like the texture, its bouncy (imagine that!) and it blends really nicely. You use your finger to pat it on and blend, and then can build color based on how much you like. And as it is summer, and makeup is generally not as heavy, its a really nice addition to the “naked” looking face.
So I have some photos for you to help demonstrate. I streaked on a healthy dash of blush, on one side I used the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush, and the other the ELF Blush in Pink Passion.
May I say that first of all these are VERY pink, so blending is key, and second of all BLEND. Seriously. With all the internet awareness and how to videos it always surprises me to still see heavy streaks of blush with NO blending on ladies out there. Blend. No seriously, do it. This is not what we want to see:
As you can see, the Dream Bouncy blush goes on a little different than powder, it is on the left in the picture and it looks heavier. But with some magical blending… (what I am trying to say is you should blend your blush):
Not so hot pink streaky! In these photos, the blushes look a lot alike. And from a distance, or in nice even lighting they do look similar. But they do look different in harsher light, and they do react to light differently and that is where I start to really like the Maybelline Bouncy blush. You see, it looks more natural, like a healthy glow with a teensy bit of sheen in natural light, whereas the powder blush looks a little more like a line of powder, and a bit unnatural.
So, I agree with Maybellines claims:
“Freshest flush ever:
• Revolutionary gel formula provides a new bouncy texture.
• Lightweight like a powder, yet melts seamlessly into skin like a cream
• Natural sheer wash of color that is buildable for greater color intensity”
And I will absolutely be buying more of these in different shades. I actually really want to try the color “Tamale” which reminds me of old school rouge a bit… super fun! So don’t be surprised if that shows up on here eventually.
Have any of you tried this, or any other gel blushes? Let me know in the comments, always looking for other opinions or recommendations!
