Today I decided to play with my Ipsy Glam Bag September goodies!
So I grabbed the NYX charcoal eyeshadow, the Starlooks eyeliner pencil, the Its So Big! mascara and went to town! I didnt want to make my Birchbox feel left out, so I also did a blow out with the amika Blow Up spray (sept. birch box also.)
(You will also notice above my Too Faced Naked Palette shadow in “Pink Cheeks” which is my FAV eyeshadow, I used it because I wanted to try two different looks with the NYX charcoal shadow. )
First I did an all over lid application of the NYX shadow, and like 5 coats of the Its So Big mascara and I lined my waterline with the Starlooks pencil.
I would say that the eye shadow is ok, I think it’s very comparable to other drugstore eyeshadows. I like the color. I would suggest holding some tissue under your eye when applying the shadow though, it has a tendency to get all over, and when you wipe it away it can leave a lovely darkness, reminiscent of a black eye.
The eyeliner was very basic. I much prefer the Maybelline Define-A-Line for lining my waterline.
The mascara was not my favorite either. On the plus side the brush feels nice, and it wasn’t clumpy at all. But I put on so many coats, and my eyelashes still look super short and wimpy! So if you already have amazing eyelashes, you might love this mascara. But I have noticed most of us are NOT content with our eyelashes and look for mascaras to bolster us up! This mascara despite its name… is not so big.
So the other look I tried was doing the “Pink Cheeks” shadow all over my lid to my brow bone as a base, and then just putting the NYX charcoal shadow on the outer corners of my lid. (Then using the mascara and pencil on my waterline.)
It’s a nice look, and easy! Supposed to make your eyes look bigger, which is always a plus!
That leaves… my hair! (No extensions this time! Now you see how short my hair is! )
The amika spray is nice, it smells good and works well. I don’t blow dry my hair very often as it is already pretty fried from dyeing it too much… (FYI I haven’t bleached my hair in months, I have been so good! This is a serious achievement friendships!) so I probably wont be buying this product. But if you blow dry your hair quite often I think it would be a great product for you!
It sure is fun experimenting with new goodies from the beauty subscription services! I am really glad I signed up for them, and if you haven’t tried one before I think you should!
I am off to Target, I have a hot date this weekend so I am going to find some amazing new fake eyelashes. Will surely be showing them off to you all!
